Webb & Brown-Neaves has built nine townhouses with ocean views in Quinns Rocks to attract empty-nesters

If you're done with dusting and mowing you may be among the happy band of homebuyers preparing to enjoy an "empty nest".

With low maintenance, location and lifestyle high on your list of priorities, a 280sq m townhouse in Webb & Brown-Neaves Catalina Cove development in Quinns Rocks may well fit the bill.

Offering apartment-style living by the sea, seven of the nine homes built by W&B at Catalina Cove feature an "upside-down" design so that the ocean views are captured in the rooms that are used the most.

"We really wanted to capitalise on the fact that the ocean is on the doorstep," says Rob Crawford, sales and marketing manager at W&B.
The remaining two townhouses have a traditional layout with downstairs kitchen and living areas, and three bedrooms on the first floor, including the master suite.

Rob says the recently completed townhouses, which are priced from $695,000 to $795,000, are set to appeal to buyers who no longer want, or need, a big family home.

"They're likely to be buyers in their late 40s and 50s who have had one, two or three homes before," Rob says.

"They can spot detail as far as the level of specification is concerned and are very savvy when it comes to build quality."

W&B has opened one of the Catalina Cove homes as a display, illustrating a relaxed beachside ambience with a liberal dash of city chic.

The display also demonstrates how an upside-down design creates the apartment-style lifestyle that many empty-nesters are seeking.

The master suite, living areas, study space and generous balcony are on the first floor, with plenty of room downstairs for guests, teenage children or adult offspring who have yet to find their own nest.

"It's effectively an apartment upstairs," Rob says.

Other family members or visitors have their own wing downstairs and the extra sitting room can be set up as their TV room or entertaining space.

There are two good-sized minor bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs, plus the sitting room that leads to an easy-care courtyard garden with ocean views.

The best views, though, are to be enjoyed from the upstairs living areas that open to a large and sheltered outdoor entertaining deck.
Integrated neatly into the upper floor, without interrupting any flow between living areas and master suite, the kitchen features an island bench and plenty of storage, including a walk-in pantry neatly incorporated into the cabinetwork.

Throughout all the homes, details such as stone benchtops, feature cornices, contour doors, elegant tapware, timber flooring and stainless-steel balustrading satisfy buyers' demands for a top-end finish.

Painting, reticulation and landscaping are also included so that all buyers have to do is move in.

Rob says the soft, neutral tones that have been chosen for walls, tiles and carpets mean buyers can put their own stamp on the decor or simply enjoy the subtle, designer colour scheme.
