Flutes in tune with the needs of first buyers

First-homebuyers, this will be music to your ears — there are more homes packages for sale at Flutes in Brighton. Nine house and land packages starting from $330,000 are available in stage three of this development by the Homebuyers Centre.

Marketing manager Jared Stone said they were all narrow-lot designs and the name was derived from the "flute shape" of the blocks. There were two Flutes display homes in Brighton for buyers to look at. "The display homes are great as they're helping us educate first-homeowners that you don't have to compromise style and comfort to get into the market," Mr Stone said. "People walk in and see how modern and chic these houses are."

The stage three houses were a mix of two-bedroom one-bathroom and three-bedroom two-bathroom homes. The homes in stage one, now completed, and stage two, under construction, had been snapped up, which indicated stage three was likely to sell fast. Finishes such as floor coverings and window treatments would be included, he said.

Although the Flutes houses were terrace-style homes, two sets of double-brick walls between each meant sound didn't carry. Usually with narrow-lot designs there was wasted area on either side, but with these homes on 7m-wide blocks the best use of space had been made.

The architecturally designed homes had roomy courtyards, high ceilings and quality fixtures and fittings, Mr Stone said. The Flutes concept was aimed at helping first-homebuyers with affordability issues.

"It fits perfectly into the Government's shared equity scheme, which has a package limit of $375,000," Mr Stone said. Buyers of the first two stages had included first-homebuyers, older people downsizing and investors.
