Extra $21,000 for one lucky buyer

Writer: Beth Muhling
Publication: The New Homes Guide -The West Australian
Date: 28 February 2009

Homebuyers Centre will double the $21,000 Federal Government first-homebuyer's grant for one lucky person.

Sales and marketing manager Mark Evans said $21,000 was the prize in a new competition. It was the biggest the company had offered.

The winner would be able to buy a house and land package or one of the company's homes with the help of a $42,000 head start — $21,000 from the government and $21,000 from the company.

To receive the prize, a homebuyer had to enter into a contract before June 30, the deadline for the $21,000 grant.

Anybody eligible to receive the government grant, called the First Home Owners Boost, and who was considering building or buying a new home, could enter online.

They would be asked to enter their name, phone number and the amount they were paying in rent.

When the competition closed at the end of May, the winner would be drawn.

The grant could be used as their deposit and the extra $21,000 would provide a discount off the home they chose.

"We have a choice of nearly 75 designs, and it comes down to what their budget is," Mr Evans said.

Homebuyers Centre has designs for three and four-bedroom homes and for smaller cottage lots.

It also has many display homes, and a new one, the Vision, in Piara Waters, Forrestdale, is due to open next Saturday.

The contemporary four-bedroom home has a rendered facade, a raised portico entry and a double garage.

Homebuyers Centre's latest display also has an alfresco area, a home theatre, an activity room and a big main suite with walk-in robes.

Mr Evans said ready-built homes, such as the Flutes series, terrace-style homes in Brighton and Ellenbrook, and compact three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes in Aubin Grove would also be available.

The competition had to end on May 31 to give the company time to put the package together.

To enter the competition, visit Homebuyers Centre and go to "latest offers".
